24 – 25 May 2018 Edinburgh

Had a great stay in Keswick. All four wardens great.

Moved up to Edinburgh lovely day travelling bus up into Edinburgh for a walkabout.

22 May 2018 Keswick

Just about caught up with all our friends, managing to get a bit fitter with a few good hill runs. Went to watch Buttermere Sailbeck race and we knew a lot more runners in this one. Starting to get ready to move with lots of campsites booked for a summer trip to (watch this space).

Had a few days sorting the van out buying new storage boxes and moving around for easy access. Larigg Fell Race this evening so walked up the fell to watch still lots of runners we know well done to them all.

Still catching up with friends and running –  cycling getting a bit fit now.

Still running and catching up with all our friends,  met one on the hills when we were running then another two while out cycling in Borrowdale. Called in at Grasmere to look at Wordsworths’ graves not such a good idea looking at graves at my age !!!!

Called in to see a friend who owns a CL camping site to look at her new shepherds hut FAB keep an eye open when driving from Grasmere to Keswick just before the turn off to St Johns in the Vale. (Stybeck Farm)

Rest day from exercise pulse rates up, so got the bikes out and cleaned them then off down Borrowdale to pay my running club subs. Maybe one day I may win a race again Ho ho ? Called in at Borrowdale church to see Bob Graham’s gravestone. Caught up with more friends a good day.

Still running and catching up with all our friends, a lovely  picture of Maureen on Walla Crag before we went off to watch the Keswick half marathon.

30 April  2018 Keswick

Steady journey up to Keswick. Arrived 1.00 pm, hooked up, had lunch, then went  to pick up the car. Here for a short while catching up with lots of friends and then on we will go again.

Lots of walking over the last few days and a run along side Derwentwater (lovely to be back)

29 April 2018 Southport

Good journey up from Stratford on Avon. Arrived Southport and first job some laundy, then a lovely hot shower (after cold showers at Stratford). Good weather so had a lovely walk along the seafront to the pier and into town for a coffee.

26 – 27 April 2018 Statford on Avon

Good journey up only 45 mins.

Pitched up site very quiet caught the ferry boat into town. In the evening decided to eat in the restaurant as it was OK last time, BIG mistake new management !!!! Fish n chips M had 2 egg chips and Honey ham £24 asked for large chips got french fries mushy peas cold and a compulsory service charge Never again, I think this site has now reached its sell by date and we will find another next time in the area. Shower the coldest since Morocco 4 years ago. And we do an average of 70 campsites a year ??!!

27 April 2018 Statford on Avon

Caught the first ferry into town (Usually 2 an hour) as it is raining we decided to go the the cinema to See the new Avengers film GREAT. Lovely cinema with reclining seats. Came back to catch the ferry and had to wait 45 mins. as they had reduced the service to 1 an hour while we were in town…. we don’t seem to be having a good time here SO CAMPERS BEWARE at Riverside.

28 April 2018 Statford on Avon

Last day here before we move north again, Maureen bumped into a friend from Harrogate in town this morning. To Finnish on a positive note about this campsite the 3 boatmen on the ferries to town are Fab well done to them.

23 – 25 April 2018 Cheltenham

Caught bus into Gloucester, particularly to have a look at the cathedral (abbey). Very interesting well worth a visit.

Had a walkabout in the town, down to the dock area. There seems to be a lot of shopping centres here. Lots of independent shops which makes a change.

Following day cycled into Cheltenham, then caught a bus into Gloucester again. Getting ready to move in the morning.

 

 

22 April 2018 Cheddar Gorge / Cheltenham

Wow had a walk up to the Car boot sale at Cheddar ! never seen one as big as this and a local said wait while summer to see how BIG it gets oh! and leave town before 1100 if you need to go some place. Moving day going north a bit.

Great journey up to Cheltenham great campsite  Adults Only. Bus into Cheltenham and walk about. The picture above is the clock in the Regents Shopping Arcade plays I’am forever blowing bubbles and Bubbles come out of the fishes mouth when the clock chimes the hour (Cute)

20 April 2018 Cheddar Gorge

Really interesting drive up to Cheddar on small roads. A bonus was arriving with a drive down the gorge luckily it was open as it was closed the day before due to a body being found on a ledge. Walked around the village and up the gorge and sat watching climbers a lovely day.

Lovely morning a short run  down the side of the Yeo then got the bikes out and cycle along the strawberry route to Cheddar reservoir and round it. In the afternoon a walk back up the gorge.

Lovely sunny day, caught bus up to Upton Country Park and ran from there into Poole and caught bus back. Lovely run next to Holes Bay. Went back into Poole on the bus after lunch to do some shopping.

Another lovely sunny day so cycled into Poole and around the Harbour area. Bus to Wareham after lunch.

Drove down to Pool this morning on busy roads, called into Highcliff to see friends from Spain who we first met 10 years ago had coffee and a walk onto the sea front saw a very large stuffed teddy in a house (BIG) see picture below.

Windy cycle this morning down to Pool through Upton Park and onto the Quay.

Had a coffee then got blown back FAB ! In the afternoon bused into Pool  for a walkabout A GOOD DAY.

15 April 2018 Chichester

Had a great run this morning alongside the estuary the caught a bus into Bognor Regis home of the famous Bird man of Bognor, I have seen this on television many years ago. Spent 1/2 hr. there then caught the bus back to Chichester for lunch.
