Good 4 days here, weather been good. Done some running and had a good cycle to the Union Chain Bridge and the Honey Farm where they had a lovely old bus converted into a café.
Walked into town a few times and one evening there was a Honda Gold Wing parade where all the bikes were lit up – they looked fabulous going across the bridge. After the parade there was a great firework display, one of the best we have seen – small but stunning.
Above picture Maureen nipped across the bridge into Scotland and back.
Late start due to 1200 book in time at North Berwick and only 55 mins drive. Arrived and booked in then a walk onto the beach walkabout in both directions for an hour, lovely place for doggies.
Over the last few days visited Edinburgh a few times going up to the castle and the old town, visited Holyrood House (not one of the most impressive buildings that we have visited). Had two runs and a long walk onto Cramond Island.
The picture below shows what lengths people have to go to to stop pigeons messing up statues!
Nice steady drive down arrived about 1130 so caught the bus up into Edinburgh walk about and coffee.
Next morning a run towards Cramond then back for lunch and then a cycle on cycle route 1 and 76 up to Queensferry and on to The Forth road Bridge again.
Good journey up from Fort William, stopped off in Glen Coe for photos but not much water. Arrived at site and booked in then called in the Green Welly for a coffee before walking up part of the West Highland Way.
The following day went for a run up through the forest in between showers. Back at the site had lunch then into town for a coffee and some people watching. Later on had a go at looking for gold in the river, but no luck.
Lovely day so cycled to Neptune’s Staircase via Caol and Corpach. Back to site for lunch then cycled down the Glen.
4 September 2018 Fort William
Lovely day again so short run up the forest track, back for the bikes then cycled again to Neptune’s Staircase and carried on along the Great Glen Way, then into town for a coffee before a bit of shopping then back to the site for tea then to the pub for a drink early evening.
Run this morning part way up the Ben looking for the elusive diver walking the Ben we could not catch him up (must be getting old). Back to the van and a cycle up to Nevis Range to watch the SDA 2018 cycle event.
Walk into Fort William looking for the deep sea diver team walking from Fort William to the summit of Ben Nevis in aid of charity. Couldn’t find them so went for coffee then onto Claggan Park where the Ben Nevis race starts from. Caught up with a few friends, walked down to the pub on the race route for a drink until the runners arrived.
Back to the van to get the bikes then back to Claggan Park to see the finish of the race.
Good drive up, didn’t get chance to stop in Glen Coe as Mountain Rescue and Police dealing with a dead body. Stopped at Ballachulish for shopping then onto Fort William. First of all did some laundry, then washed the van, then onto look at the new layout in the Information Centre.
Cold overnight, down to 4C but able to sit out early morning when the sun got to our pitch. Off for a run on the forest trails, then off for a cycle into the town then through Caol to the Neptune’s Staircase where we saw a large vessel entering the lock system. Runners starting to appear on the site.
