Nice steady drive up through the Dales to Hawes. Booked in and after a bit of lunch walked up to Wensleydale Creamery. Bought some cheese and had coffee in the café. Had lots of walkabouts and today a good walk over to the Green Dragon. Below a picture showing how scaffolding is taking over the world. It is now surrounding a steam engine.

Had an interesting 4 days here in Richmond, the first day afternoon we cycled into town for a coffee. The next few days were running and walking. It takes about an hour to walk in on the old railway line and 45 minutes if you walk back through the woods by the fairys’ well and the Drummer boys stone. When you walk past the slanting wall at Easby Abby the rumour states that one day it will fall on two lovers…to Avoid this we had a big argument before the wall and made up after we had passed it.

Bridlington Caravan Club site – The perfect site designed how they should be with RULES park all the same way, 2 foot from the grass, ask the wardens for advice on washing your vehicle, toilet block 1 has only 4 sit down toilets but outside the toilet block it has 28 drain covers! Site has 149 pitches. The trouble with perfect is that it is usually soulless as is the case here. There is a constant machine noise 24 hours a day coming from a nearby facility. 2 Vehicles left the site at 0500 am very unusual this for any campsite. We always vote with our feet so we won’t be back to this site and it is very unusual for me to write this rubbish but Hay Ho…. No buses on a Sunday (Beware). Good cycle into Bridlington and up to Flamborough head although they tend to drive fast and overtake on double white lines.

Long drive down, busy with roadworks. Managed to find a Co-op for a bit of shopping and to stretch our legs. Arrived just before 12,00 noon and was allocated a good pitch. After some lunch caught the bus into town for a walkabout and had coffee and cake before catching the bus back. A bit of a rest day for us.

Lovely day so cycled up to Blyth. Great route through the dunes, came across a great cycling sculpture.

On talking to a local he said he thinks it may be a memorial to 3 cyclists that were killed on the nearby road by a drunk driver, then on past the docks with enormous cable laying drums – wow! Stopped for a coffee at the Coastline Coffee Shop. Good coffee, great company (see below). Regrettably no worms on the menu.

Back to site for lunch then some more walking. This evening saw a large cable laying barge heading out to sea.

Short drive down from Berwick. We have had bad weather here with very bad wind with van rocking and rolling. Managed a run down to the harbour, and a cycle up to Bamburgh. Walked to Seahouses twice along the beach but the tide times are making it difficult for beach combing.  Below a picture of Maureen on Beadnell harbour.
