Up early to catch the train. Main motorway blocked but managed to get to the terminal in plenty of time. Motorway down to Geraudot very wet and windy all the way from Calais. 5 hour drive. Very tiring. On arrival at the campsite bumped into our first person that we knew – wardens from Bristol Wharf campsite who we also met in Vilanova last year.
Not a bad drive down to Tournon, weather OK but held up by the ‘yellow jackets’. They had managed to close a 300 kilometre stretch of motorway which led to much frustration finding an alternative route, not just for us but the many wagon drivers. It made our 4.5 hour journey into 7 hours. Even on our arrival at Tournon they were trying to block the motorway exit and created problems on most roundabouts. Arghhhhhhh!
Caught the Bus to Hove and Walked back into Brighton. next Day walked along under the cliffs to Rottingdean then caught the bus back into Brighton and a walk through The Lanes.

Caught up with shopping then drove up to Folkestone calling in at Vicarious Media to pick up our ACSI camping card, Bus down into town for a Walkabout.
6 December 2018 Folkestone
Caught the bus up to Canterbury for last min. shopping and a walkabout. Picture below of how my latest hobbies is progressing to while away dark nights.
Wet day so a walkabout down at Brighton Marina and a look at any films for us to go see Robin Hood looks action packed if we can keep up with the graphics. Sunday walked into Brighton coffee and a walkabout. Came across the picture below and it reminded me that Maureen had a good 40 min run on the Southdowns this morning (looking good) xx.
Below are some images of paper flowers I am making to pass away the evenings.
Called in to Kingfisher campsite at Gosport for one night wow you need to look this one up on Trip-advisor £27.00 a night unbelievable. Maureen does not want to stay here ever again. Up early next day with a bad feeling for the day…A bad night at Kingfisher, The motorhome going into Southdowns. Topped up our gas bottles at Calor we have used £14 worth of gas in a year not a bad yearly heating bill. Some shopping then into Brighton. It’s bad weather and the Christmas decorations are virtually none existent so no seasonal pictures. Decided to get our International Driving Licences just in case Brexit goes odd £5.50 each and 10 mins in the Post Office.
Day 1 good journey down tried to ovoid to much motorway so jumped on to the M6 Toll to miss Birmingham road works then came down via A46 Evesham . Booked in then into Cheltenham not to impressed with the Christmas market and lights,
Day 2 Into Gloucester, ice rink set up but no Christmas stalls yet on the Quays. Bused back to Cheltenham for some shopping and back to the site to wash the Van I have never seen it so dirty lovely and clean for the approaching storm and travelling to Portsmouth tomorrow.
Since our last block entry we have spent a bit of time having the motorhome MOT’d, serviced and habitation check. We have been moving about between Keswick, Harrogate, Troutbeck, Leeds and Allonby. The van is now nice and clean and ready for our travels back into Europe.
Still generally running, walking and catching up with friends. Darian has started his new project, a 20 minute amusing lecture on the Murky World of Commercial Diving.
Beautiful poppy display below is at St. John’ Church in Keswick which is in knitted acrylic wool.
Still in the Keswick area enjoying running and walking on the fells and all the coffee breaks with friends. Had a trip down to Ambleside and Grasmere to watch a large relay fell race.
Campsite still OK although we had a dog barking over night at the rabbits as it is sleeping in the awning overnight and another couple left the dog in the camping car while they went off just a small problem with being in the dog friendly town of Keswick.
Lovely to be back in Keswick and running the fells again, although we have had some very wet days, in fact last weekend the adjacent campsite on the lake shore had to be evacuated due to the height of the lake rising several feet.
The past week or so we have been catching up with friends drinking innumerable cups of coffee and tea. Went into Costa Coffee early last week but it is not as good as earlier in the year. We asked for extra hot lattes but they were only just warm and very short measures so we have given it a miss since. Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Pheasant Inn on Crosthwaite Road with our friend Carolyn but were very disappointed to note a substantial amount of snail trails on the carpet underneath our table – Ugh!! Van Serviced MOT and new front tyres.
