Decided we needed a bit of adventure in our dull lives so we have caught the overnight ferry from Barcelona to Tangier and mid morning we should be hiring our guide to escort us around the many streets of the souk in Fez. See Link Below!!
Left Peniscola for Barcelona calling in to Vinaros to the Peugot Dealers to pick up a couple of 15 amp fuses to replace a blown fuse on the cigarette lighter which we use for the satnav and also so that we can use our tyre inflator. The garage very kindly let us have the fuses for free. Good journey up to Barcelona although very windy but this stretch of motorway usually is.
Arrived at the campsite to a good welcome as they have got to know us now. Got a good pitch that we like in the sun.
Had a few trips into Vilanova by bus, running and bike. In to Barcelona today by bus for a walkabout trying to find some new things to photograph. We were in Flying Tiger shop Barcelona when they caught a shop lifter, not surprising in a city that has 300 robberies a day.
30th Caught the bus and train into Sitges for a walkabout and coffee. An Arts and Crafts Fair on interesting but very busy. The pictures below are the swimming pool on the site that opens this Monday, a new car charging point for electric cars and a picture of the famous artist Darian Van Driver with Van Bronze. The good looking guy in Blue is Van Driver!
Another good run into town and round the streets below the castle. After the run we walked back into town and explored the streets in the old town FAB we both enjoyed it.
This morning walked into town to explore again and had a great day again the weather is mad hot.
Good run yesterday along promenade and up to the castle. After lunch walked into town for a walkabout and a coffee. Avoided running along the beach as too soft, not sand it is ground up gravel. Below is a picture of a motorhome on the campsite – a good subject. This campsite has not got a lot of British on and there are some strange things going on. I noticed a guy using the floor mop for the showers to mop out his hand basin. This is a first for us. Also this campsite does not provide hand washing soap but does supply toilet paper that is good for tracing!
Today had a good cycle up to Vinaros, one hour into a head wind, through some rural farmland. then a walk into town for some decent bread instead of brickets that is starting to blunt our new knife. Texted our friends in the UK, Linda and Ray, to see if they are OK.
On the move drove up this morning only a 45 mins. drive. Been to this campsite back in March 2011 so we know its good and not far to the beach for running and cycling up to Vinaros. The lovely little castle here was used in game of thrones and is kinda cute.
Below is an image of the new leaves coming out on the Palm trees
Nothing much has changed, still lovely weather and still enjoying our running, cycling and walking about. Checked out a new cycle route to Castellon where we came across some lovely wall art. See below and click on image for a larger picture – it’s worth it.
The trees on the site are coming into leaf and the blossom beautiful colours. I guess we are lucky as we get to experience Spring twice. Below is your Spanish lesson for the day. Try to guess what it’s all about.
Still enjoying some lovely weather and doing lots of running, cycling and walking. Its that time of year when all the pine trees are producing pollen and everything is covered in a yellow dust.
Below Maureen checking that we can cycle down this road as you don’t appear to be able to do anything else.
Stopped for coffee down near Grau we love the coffee shop due to usually no English just locals. On the next table were 2 Brits? from Essex how funny it was just like watching The only way is Essex they had me in stitches.
Cycled down to Castellon with Linda and Ray and had coffee, then back to Benicassim for lunch. Monday had a day off exercise, our friends have now left for their journey back to the UK and we have taken over their LARGE pitch.
While wandering around the town after our early morning run along the beach we came across this wonderful distorted tree. See image below.
Another strange photograph below ‘el corb’ (The Raven) biting through a chain. This is located above a restaurant entrance in Benicassim.
Below, another picture, this one drawn by Darian. For anyone who has heard a pigeon and wondered what it is saying the below may give you an idea.
Good journey up from Valencia. Site very busy when we arrived and unable to get a Gold pitch. The pitch we are on is OK and will be moving onto a Gold pitch on Monday. There seems to be a bit of discord on the site, people are not too happy, both staff and customers with lots of moaning going on.
Back to walking and running on the beach and cycling. Spending the last few days with our friends, Linda and Ray. Cycled up to Oropesa for coffee.
Above is a photo of some new bungalows on the site – they look pretty classy. A lot of older caravan and motorhome people tend to now fly down into Spain instead of driving down, and hire these bungalows for the winter so they can still keep in touch with their friends.
Had 2 days in Valencia at Coll Vert we love the cycle into Valencia. The first day we caught the bus into Valencia for a walkabout then visited the Fallas Museum again for the second time.
Next day a 3 Hour cycle into and around Valencia the cycle track had a small detour and we came across some lovely graffiti. There were 2 demonstrations in Valencia while we were there.
