Had a short walk down to St Mary’s lighthouse before we left Whitley Bay. On the journey up the heavens opened and down came lots of rain flooding the road. Other than that a good journey up. A large queue as usual at this site it takes forever to get pitched up. Site a bit flooded. See below

Cycle day today so down to Tynemouth again but went a bit further than last time and came across this wonderful welded statue with a lovely little poem under it.
Lovely weather again so another cycle this time to Tynemouth. Had a lovely coffee in the town before cycling back. This town is one of the fortunate places to have had an outdoor seawater swimming pool – see picture below.
After lunch walked into Whitley Bay along the beach and bussed back part way then walked the last part. Rain this evening so no late walk.
Caught the bus into Durham this morning as the journey today is only 35 mins to Whitley Bay. Left site at 1100 had a good journey up via Tyne Tunnel £1.60 toll. 13 July 2019 Durham
Into town early as The Miners Gala on today WOW what a spectacular sight lovely to see. All the roads blocked off and Police with guns! what a shame.
The Brass bands were FAB and the racecourse was busy. A good day out. Back to van to hide from the rain that’s just starting.
Enjoyed 3 weeks in Keswick running, cycling and catching up with our many friends and lots of coffee. Managed to be out running up Latrigg when some running friends were taking their wedding vows in front of their many friends. We also saw the Skiddaw race but as we get older we only knew a few of the runners. Whilst out at Lingholm Gardens Café saw 2 of the Alpacas that graze there.
There was the Keswick Regatta and also a Music Festival in the market square and Fitz Park and the Scarecrow Festival in Threlkeld. The stay on the campsite was, as usual good, but does tend to get a bit noisy when the tents (Eurocamp style) are busy.
9th – 10 July 2019 Barnard Castle
Good drive across from Keswick. Lovely walk into town from the campsite and then went to look around the Bowes Museum. Made sure we there at 2.00 pm to see the silver swan in action.
Weather a bit mixed but lovely sunshine this afternoon. There looks like they may have had a problem on this site. It can be a bit muddy on the walk back from town.
A good 3 day stop over weather not to good but managed to get a run in up to The Green Dragon across the fields, plenty of walkabouts, coffee and cake so a good time we have enjoyed it.
Had a good journey up from Stratford on Avon. After booking in and some lunch we caught the bus into Harrogate town. Tried Costa Coffee again after a bad experience last year and still just as bad. Ugh!!! Spent a few days with friends visiting Knaresborough and Ripon.
Not been able to do any running or cycling due to constant rain until Saturday morning when we managed a short cycle down to the Riverside Café in Knaresborough.
Got a surprise one day in Harrogate when a couple approached us and said “Don’t we know you from Denia in Spain?” How lovely to have been approached by them. Had a couple of meals out with friends.
As we thought the fish and chips were awful, i don’t know why we keep getting them.
Managed a run this morning in the woods next to the campsite we called it a mystery run as there are so many paths where you could go wrong. Into town for a walkabout and a look round the Pavilion and gardens.
A very wet day today we had to get all our foul weather waterproof running gear on to stay dry for our walk into Buxton. So we did some more washing to help fill the day. There is a Fish n Chip van on site tonight so fingers crossed.
The 2 pictures for today are unusual things that pop up !!!! The first is yes believe it or not a Toy Story actor on our site. And the second is a piece of railway line as a weight for closing a gate 1000 feet above Sea level.
