Steady drive back down to Sterling,really slow as luckily we were behind a large articulated vehicle so we could drive very slow and let the queue behind us blame him. So a good drive down with time to admire the views.
Arrived lunchtime and caught the bus into Sterling for lunch. Buses here seem expensive compared to say Edinburgh.
Today weather superb with lots of sunshine so first thing a run up the hills, then a cycle into Bridge of Allan, and after lunch a walk to the Coffee Bothy – yummy, lovely cakes.
Weather a bit rainy but managed to get a run up into the forest. Went into the village for a coffee then back for lunch. We then set off to the Artisan coffee shop but half way there set off back due to heavy rain coming in.
Unhooked again due to rain and walked into town for a morning coffee. Drove up to M&S food hall for some shopping before we move tomorrow. Washed the van again and then a walkabout in the Glen.
10 September 2019 Tyndrum
Back in Tyndrum again just breaking the drive to our next stop. Had a look at the landslide in the woods that covered the rail track to Oban wow how the river bed has been changed by the bad weather, had a look for GOLD as usual no luck. Walked down to The Artisan Café for coffee and cake a small 4 mile walk.
Had a fish and chip supper again with mushy bees and tartar sauce lovely.
Cycled this morning up to Nevis Range through the woods from Torlundy. Hopping to get a rare glimpse of a brown bear ! Instead managed to spot a Dragon with sunglasses on see picture below.
Cycled back to town for lunch and coffee then back to the site it may rain tomorrow so we washed the van? After lunch a walkabout to watch the runners coming in from the Glencoe Marathon. Below M saying ” you want me to go right”?
Cycle day today to Bridge of Allen via a dirty little path round the back of the University so dirty we called it the back passage. Stopped for a lovely Costa coffee. Afternoon a walk down to the coffee Bothey for cake. A lovely stopover.
2 -3 September 2019 Tyndrum
Short drive over to Tyndrum, a couple of road problems one with a 4 vehicle crash. Bad weather so the umbrella got a bit of use.
Next morning still wet so out with the foul weather gear and a short 2 hour walk on the West Highland Way, a visit to the Green Welly Shop then Fish and Chips for tea, nice for a change.
4 September 2019 Fort William
Short drive again down Glencoe in the rain but the sun making an appearance near the bottom, called into Ballaculish for some food supplies then on to Glen Nevis. Walked into Fort William for a look about.
5 September 2019 Fort William
Raining so unhooked the van parked up near town for a wander and coffee then drove up to Nevis Range for a Picnic and Coffee. This place is too expensive now beware £3.00 parking and the coffee and cake is just acceptable.
6 September 2019 Fort William
Raining again so unhooked again and walkabout again in Fort William. Sun arrived in the afternoon so out with the bikes for a cycle to Corpach and the 10 rise locks for yet another coffee.
7 September 2019 Fort William
A lovely sunny day for The Ben Nevis Race, we had a run ourselves first thing then a cycle into town, back to the site then up to the race route to watch the runners come through then walked to Claggan Park and back to watch the front men coming back down The Ben. Findlay Wilde first again his 10 victory.
The weather was a bit better this morning so we cycled into town for a walkabout and coffee in George street Tea Shop a lovely experience. Cycled back to the site for lunch via Scone village. After lunch cycled back into town for another walkabout and back to the site just before it rained.
31 August 2019 Sterling
A short drive over to Sterling in the rain arrived just after mid day and caught a bus into Sterling expensive 2 returns £9.60 Ouch!
Had a walkabout and a Costa coffee lunch. Some shopping then back to the site. In the evening had a short walk up to Logie Kirk.
Slow drive down after a walk on sea front to a small coffee shop in Monifief. Booked in small site a long way from anywhere except the race course. Out with the bikes as there is only a bus every 2 hours. Cycled into Perth for coffee in a horrible costa!! On the way back cycled down to Scone Palace to see if we could get the motorhome down, yes it looks good.
29 August 2019 Perth
Unhooked then drove down to Scone Palace, a great morning out, everyone was so friendly and helpful great film giving the history. Stopped for coffee and scone then walked round the grounds and tried The Star Maze. 5 minutes from start to center only 1 wrong turn after memorizing the route.
Into Dundee this morning again for a walkabout, visited St Paul’s cathedral a lovely church had a good chat with the vicar. Then we visited The McManus Art gallery and Museum fab we really enjoyed it. In the afternoon washed the van, a first for us, the campsite charge £5.00 for water use! Into Broughty in the afternoon for a coffee.

Caught the bus into Dundee on a Day rider ticket (£7.00) bought from a bus conductor…YES the only bus route in Dundee WOW I thought they were extinct.
Visited Scott’s ship Discovery and Museum then had a look round The V&A, not a very attractive building. Then up in to town for a walkabout and got some copies of my latest Art masterpiece.
Back to the campsite for tea and cake then caught the bus again up to Broughty Ferry ( Broo’ty) for a look round the castle.
Slow drive down this morning only a 30 mins. drive, got a good pitch on a small site. Cycle down to Broughty Ferry and beyond to the docks outside Dundee to look at the Jack-Up rigs that I used to work on.
