Still running and exploring the pictures below are of the ITV the Spanish MOT people with the portable unit that they move around for people to bring their vehicles for a roadside MOT.
The wheel barrow is full of bottles the handyman has been collecting.
We have returned to calpe and are doing our usual exploring, running, cycling and lots of walking we are keeping out of Benidorm due to the world situation and are reviewing our travel plans in Spain avoiding campsites that have poor facilities and are close to outbreaks. Below is a picture of footprints in the sand created by what the Spanish call a yellow legged duck (seagull with coloured legs). Also a sign at the start of the area around where the campsites are banning vehicles.
Shopping this morning on the bikes then coffee and tostado con tomate at the site restaurant. Our friends arrived and we spent the afternoon catching up.
29 February Guardamar
Family picked us up this morning for a trip to a cake shop WOW were we all stuffed up on Bacon butties double WOW. We then had a drive up to Collosa for a tapas lunch then back for some more catching up. A great day out for us with family and friends triple WOW WOW WOW.
Maureen had a run this morning with me on the bike (Doggy Guard) then we cycled up to Guardamar for coffee and to photo some wall art.
We then were picked up and taken out for lunch at a lovely hidden away Spanish restaurant with a quirky décor and funny owner the food was fab a great experience AGAIN.
Due to Maureen’s puncture yesterday we thought it would be good to get a new tyre so we cycled to a bike shop up the road and fitted the new tyre. I have a little bit of cold so we cycled into town for some cough medicine. After lunch we cycled up to La Marina for a look around as its to window to go across the salt pans to Santa Pola today. Back to site for a sit down then off again to look round Guardamar on the bikes a total of 3 Hours cycle again!.
A first ever on all the hundreds of campsites we have been on.
After 28 days at Calpe we have now moved on down the coast to Guadarmar for a while and have started exploring places to run. We have been here before and know some good cycling so we have been out this afternoon for 3 hours. The journey down was good a bit windy but we are glad for it as the temperature today reached 31 C a bit warm. It is the first time on this campsite and they will not accept the ACSI card as we did not tell them we had one, so BEWEAR there is no space on the website for it and they say we should have placed the information in any other comments!
The sea front properties down here have had a battering you can’t get any closer to the sea that these (see Pictures).
Weather now settled and lots more sunshine. Doing short runs and cycles and lots of walking. Met up with some friends from Bournemouth and arranged to meet them for coffee on Monday. Now getting things sorted out ready for our move on Tuesday. Bought a new battery for Maureen’s running watch, a tip for every one put the battery in at 1200 and you don’t have to set the time.
Still eating lots of cake with coffee. A small fact to do with lots of coffee.….3 cups of coffee here = 1 small costa coffee! xx
Run this morning windy and not much sun so after the run we had a walk round to the end of the Ifach. Had lunch in Flandes yummy Bacon omelette followed by Fruit and cream pancake yummy. Watched the wind surfers in the afternoon.
Enjoyed our time with our friend Brenda visiting a few more places while we had the car. Drove her back to Alicante airport where she spent a lot of time due to problems. We drove back picked up friends to go to Java again for lunch. We are resting up a bit from exercise as Maureen has damaged her leg. I am managing a run every other day and we walk until her leg hurts then coffee and people watch on the promenade.
Tried a short cycle to see friends that have just arrived in Calpe from the UK.
Family joined us for lunch in Calpe but unfortunately we picked a bad restaurant again see below.
Visited for lunch today, great starter, served by a waiter with a sense of humour then a main course from hell the ribs were terrible if I was telling you how to cook it tenderize for 4 hours every day for a week then on the last day forget to turn the oven off till next morning then on the day of serving reheat with a large blowtorch for 1 hour and serve while still warm then attempted to eat with a chainsaw. To sum it up it was overcooked I did attempt to eat it but luckily the starter was substantial to fill me. I finished with ice cream. At 10 Euros I think OK you get what you pay for?
There seems to be a problem with trip advisor down here some of the restaurants don’t have up to date reviews and the best restaurants are all Indian and oriental?
Had a train ride down to Benidorm it was very busy with lots of people on the beach.
Van washing day, the vans each side of us have had a wash and polish by the campsite handyman 4 hours! but us poor Yorkshire folk did it in an hour and it still looks as FAB
Police on the beach today removing dog owners and loose dogs and taking their details.
Below a picture of cakes Yummy.
