Bad weather so decided to visit the bank for some money and due to the amount we wanted we did not know if we could get it all from the ATM as the bank was closed , we drove to the Keswick bank and on arrival they closed the bank to get some money out of the ATM for the bank tellers ???? how strange.

Daffs

At last lovely weather so back to fence painting and the Daffodils are coming out FAB. We are still noticing odd things on the farm lonnins and this next picture is of a pre-cast steel reinforced morticed post not sure of its earlier use.

Moticed

The next image is again a railway sleeper different fixings to the previous images as it has  Pandrol housings and is now a gate post.

The next picture is a stonecurlews nest or if you prefer a hedge playing pass the stone!

While looking around for things to do we found an old beer bottle from the now closed Maryport brewery the bottle is 100 years old and took a couple of weeks and some bleach to get all the solid remains of the dead slugs that have been in it for a while !!!

Founded c.1780.

Registered November 1890 to acquire the business of Frederic Robinson Sewell with 63 public houses. As a result of their tied houses in Carlisle being brought under state control in 1916, the brewery output was reduced by more than 50%.

So the houses left were sold to the State Management scheme in November 1916 and brewing ceased November 1921.

Over the last few months we have been putting together a large spider made of odd pieces of cardboard and the eyes made from shells we picked up off the beach at Cramond near Edinburgh.

A very interesting day today, out Pitter Licking again this morning with our friend Number 8 bag full and had an interesting couple of finds. No 1 is a pregnancy tester? at the side of the road in the hedge I suppose  spring is nearly here and daffodils are breeding.

Next I know Clarks boots are supposed to last forever but this one is certainly hedging its bets!

Wow we have had some awful cold days lately as we are usually in Spain  we feel it but whatever still getting out for our long walkies on a morning and had a second day cleaning up the rubbish on the roadside what we could extract from the frozen ground.

The painting of the fences is a bit slow as technically we are supposed to have 10 degrees temp and now wetness. Today the sheep have come across to see the new fence and gave a thumbs up.
