Booked in early but they have changed the booking in time so Mike was about to give us hell until he saw who it was and he bent the rules for us as usual. (Thank you Mike) Fish and Chips from The real Food Cafe £20.70.
Walked all our usual trails down to the Artisan Café for a lovely coffee and cake a 2 hour round trip but worth it we got there just as it was opening thankfully and just after we had been served a hen party arrived!.
Up the woods, up the fells on The west Highland Way The views above the early morning mist were stunning and of course the spiders webs again and, how lovely to see no one had closed the gate we spotted 25 years ago, evening walk to the North Station. Very disappointed we could not buy any Cow Poo sweets in The green Wellie and it was too busy for a coffee.
Still not a lot of water about this is usually a raging torrent.
2 Days cycling to Gondolas Aanoch Moor for the best coffee in Fort William the forest road is still closed but no work is been carried out over the weekend you just have to navigate parts of trees grass and dirt.
It was so quite this morning you could imagine been the only 2 people on earth FAB. Managed to see more mountain bikes this morning. Our usual shopping top up and evening walks. Today was The Glenco Marathon we always miss the start as we are up and gone when it starts at 0900.
Set of to do the Gondolas Aanoch Moor cycle again but the road through the woods is closed for works so we tried a different route but a bit too technical for our bikes. Back for a coffee for the last time at the soap company £7.00 for 2 take aways ARGH!. After lunch back on the bikes again to do some shopping at M&S food hall.
2 September 2021 Fort William
A new cycle route this morning out towards Blar a' Chaorainn a good cycle but due to the steep hills we actually thought we were taking the bikes for a walk rather than cycling. Coffee at The Wildcat Fort William had read the reviews and it looked OK until we got our coffee small cups the first inch was froth then the second 2 inch hardly Quenched our thirst £5.90 then the usual shopping trip on the bikes then a bit a sun bathing and evening walk in the Glen.
3 September 2021 Fort William
Cycle this morning up the Great Glen Way by the canal as far as Gairlochy swing Bridge 22 miles round trip again we love this cycle (its flat) great to see the boats and the young people canoeing / camping what fun for them. Spotted our reflection in a mirror no wonder cycling is so difficult with the size of our bikes.
Good drive down on lovely back roads detour through Aviemore then passed Laggan Dam to Roy Bridge Spean Bridge arriving at Glen Nevis at Lunch time after topping up with shopping. After lunch a walk into Fort William for coffee 2 Hr round trip.
30 August 2021 Fort William
Lovely day so on the bikes cycling up to The Gondolas Aanoch Moor as usual we come across some wild life today a frog, then after lunch a cycle into Fort William then a short evening walk.
31 August 2021 Fort William
Cycle this morning up the Great Glen Way by the canal as far as Gairlochy swing Bridge 22 miles round trip stopped for a coffee at The Highland soap company WOW mega expensive 2 Takeaway coffee and 1 cake £9.50 WOW afternoon cycle into Fort William then a lovely walkabout in the glen in the evening.
Cycling to Nethy Bridge misty and cold to start with for a lovely coffee and cake (naughty Maureen) noticed an event on it was the C2C charity walk / run / cycle from Aviemore to Lossiemouth passing through Granton on Spey. Walkabout this afternoon to look at the market in town and a late evening walk. Spotted this sign on the upper toilet block on the campsite HOW TRUE (Creep Creep xxx)
A new cycle rout today some friends told us about a BBC program about 2 girls near us that ran a farm (Lynbreck Croft) so we planed our cycle rout to pass it then carried on to our usual coffee stop at Nethy Bridge and back to the site 18 miles a great cycle in mist to start with then sunny for the rest of the day. One of the best cycles ever we loved it.
Decided to have an easy day today so we had an early morning walk down to the river Spey. Managed to get a picture of the spiders webs we mentioned yesterday and a lovely stone again this time of some deer.
In the afternoon we did the same walk again but this time took in the Grantown East railway station to look at the dining car and the miniature railway. A lazy night taking in the sun.
Some young people having a great adventure camping by boat.
Cycle day yet again this morning we decided to extend our cycle to take in Broomhill station and Boat of Garten station and we were lucky enough to arrive just 10 mins before the train arrive. And we also managed a lovely coffee in Nethy Bridge Maureen also getting herself a lovely bacon butty.
Out for 4 hours it was also lovely to see all the spiders webs in the grass as there was a slight dampness that managed to make them stand out thousands of them. Walkies into town just to keeps the legs moving.
Cycled into Inverness again this morning for some food shopping at M&S then unhooked and drove to Tesco for some more shopping and fuel then drove down to Grantown on Spey. We were supposed to be in Aviemore BUT !!!! (Rothiemurchus Camp & Caravan Park) had a look at Trip advisor and managed to make sense of the email they sent. Small campers without facilities and tents have access to toilet facilities but motorhomes and caravans with own facilities have no access to toilets showers or washing up facilities. Managed to get the last available pitch at Grantown on Spey and when we arrived they remembered us and we managed to get upgraded to a Super pitch Wow how jammy. Had a walk down through the woods past the painted stones and spotted a couple we liked a good day again.
Cycle this morning down to Inverness and across the islands to the caledonian canal it’s good to get a picture at this end as we usually get the Fort William end.
While cycling across the islands over The River Ness WOW WOW WOW we saw Nessie! How lucky picture below for all you disbelievers (Click Image for BIG)
