Move today to Morton in Marsh inter-testing trip slush on the motorway. Traffic jam at Morton stopped 0.98mile away from campsite half an hour to get that distance to the site. Campsite full ½ Hr to find a pitch, dirty toilets? What a day. Walked into Morten for coffee and Cake then back in to see the lights turned on !!!!!!

24 November 2017 Southport

Great day for travelling after bad flooding in Cumbria yesterday. Drove down through the Lakes arriving at Southport lunchtime. Walk along the seafront  to the pier then into town to see the damage done by the Jewellery robbery WOW. Got back just in time to avoid a hail storm it was so black it looked like the end of the world.

14 -19 October 2017 Harrogate

14 – 19 October 2017 Harrogate

Drive down from Hawes not bad, weather brightened up on reaching Harrogate. Our friends, Linda and Ray, joined us for coffee and we spent the afternoon with them.

Sunday we had a run and cycle then met up with Linda and Ray and they took us to Pateley Bridge for a walk along the river, then onto Bolton Abbey but didn’t stay due to the lateness of the day and the high price of parking, £10 per day and we only wanted to stay for an hour. In the evening went to The Chequers for a Sunday roast dinner – excellent.

Monday took the train to Leeds to meet Emma for a catch up on news.

Tuesday went to Harlow Carr Gardens with some more friends, Olive and Alex. Gardens really interesting even though its autumn. Then for lunch at a local pub. Another good day with friends.

Wednesday cycle with Ray to Knaresborough. Coffee on the riverside. In the afternoon drove to Ilkley for some new running shoes and shorts for Maureen. It’s really strange to us driving without the satnav on!

Thursday run first thing for Maureen then up to Ripon to look at the cathedral.

Back at site went for a walk but could not get through to Hardraw to see the falls due to the road being flooded again. Watched a large lorry drive through the flood – impressive – nearly drowned by the tsunami. One photographer got wet feet.

The second vehicle through, a Jaguar, didn’t make it. Very silly to try!
