Had our usual walkabout in town with coffee before we leave for Wells a 17 minutes drive along a very narrow road a bus squeezed past us with only 1” to spare, a wagon had to reverse as I had traffic behind me. Arrived  at site and a First in 13 years they put us on the wrong pitch?

Back at Cheddar for a few days as we wait for the campsite at Wells to open. As we have not cycled the strawberry line for 5 years we thought we would cycle down as far as Thatchers Brewery. Since our last visit it has got bigger with an additional 2 large buildings going up and the cycle way re-routed for the moment. Stopped for a coffee in Axminster served in an Antique shop ? Walked up and down the George a few times.

Cycle along the towpath into Devizes the locks are amazing stopped for a coffee and while in the market square we noticed a sign on the market cross that tells a tale:-read below.

On January 25 1753, Ruth and three other women agreed to go to Devizes market and go equal shares in a sack of wheat. The woman collecting the money found she was 3d short and demanded the money from Ruth, who declared that she had paid her share and that God should strike her dead if she lied. She immediately fell stone dead and the money owed was in her hand. An inquest later stated that she had been struck down dead by the vengeance of God with a lie in her mouth.
