Cycle up to The Chainbridge and ever to Scotland and Back with Linda and Ray. Had a good look round the Honey farm and the history of the Chainbridge had a good chat to a local who was born next to the bridge in the late 40’s about everything around the area very interesting.
Cycled back into Berwick for lunch then down to the Spittal beach.
Up early for a run along the beach down at the Spittle just a bit of rain on our way back. Walked into Berwick for coffee and cake then back via Halfords for some cleaner for the van. Noticed all these swans in the dock yard, today’s question HOW MANY? answer tomorrow. Click Image for BIG
Good journey up and a bit of shopping before arriving at our new campsite. Next morning a walk into town not so far here only 25 mins. Went to watch the Minden Day Parade which commemorates the King’s Own Scottish Borderers’ participation in the Battle of Minden in 1759 and the Scottish dancing in the Barracks before hand. What a fab day again.

Had a walk into Seahouses this morning while the sea fret was down this made it a cool walk in. Bacon butties and cake gosh what a treat. Had a walkabout on the beach and into Beadnell for a coffee. Thunder and lightning early evening but not to bad. The picture below is guess what it is the Answer in a few days (He He)
Bike day today so a cycle up to Bamburgh to The copper kettle tea shop for coffee then cycled back down to Beadnell Lime Kilns then after lunch cycled back up to Seahouses for some shopping for tomorrows tea a good day.
24 July 2019 Beadnell Bay
An interesting night with all the lightening and lots of rain woke to a dirty van so some dirt removal first thing. A run on the beach first thing it was still very warm. Then a walk up to Seahouses for coffee bacon butties and cake (we have earned it). Gosh need a rest day. Saw these two lovely stone ducks with a friend outside a house.
Had a short walk down to St Mary’s lighthouse before we left Whitley Bay. On the journey up the heavens opened and down came lots of rain flooding the road. Other than that a good journey up. A large queue as usual at this site it takes forever to get pitched up. Site a bit flooded. See below
21July 2019 Beadnell Bay
Walked into Seahouses for a Bacon Buttie and coffee the round trip walk was about 2 Hours, so in the afternoon had another 1 hour walk down to Beadnell harbour. In the evening a walkabout on the beach.
22July 2019 Beadnell Bay
This morning very windy 32Knts so we decided to have a run up the beach slightly sheltered only half an hour run so we got changed and did our 2 Hr walk to Seahouses for coffee and Cake today. The Picture below is a common green shore crab what fantastic colours.
Today decided to go by bus to Newcastle, only a 55 minutes journey had a good walkabout an interesting day. Later in the evening a walk again to Seaton Sluice.
19 July 2019 Whitley Bay
Cycle day today so down to Tynemouth again but went a bit further than last time and came across this wonderful welded statue with a lovely little poem under it.
Lovely weather again so another cycle this time to Tynemouth. Had a lovely coffee in the town before cycling back. This town is one of the fortunate places to have had an outdoor seawater swimming pool – see picture below.
After lunch walked into Whitley Bay along the beach and bussed back part way then walked the last part. Rain this evening so no late walk.
Caught the bus into Durham this morning as the journey today is only 35 mins to Whitley Bay. Left site at 1100 had a good journey up via Tyne Tunnel £1.60 toll. Called in for supplies at Sainsbury’s arriving at lunchtime on site. Walked down towards Whitley along seafront for a coffee then in the evening had a walk down to Seaton Sluice.
16 July 2019 Whitley Bay
Next day a lovely hot sunny day so out with the bikes for a cycle up to and beyond Blyth. Lunch then a bus into Whitley bay coffee then walked back along the beach. In the evening a walk out to St Mary’s lighthouse….WOW 4 Hours exercise we is ready for bed. The picture below taken on the bus (not seen this before).
Walked into Barnard Castle for a coffee as it is only a short drive up to Durham. Picture above our walk into town. The day before we ran through the Nature Reserve and along this path from the campsite.

Had a short time in Durham visiting Tealicious for our morning stop and a walkabout a service on in the cathedral but we have been many times.

Into town early as The Miners Gala on today WOW what a spectacular sight lovely to see. All the roads blocked off and Police with guns! what a shame.
The Brass bands were FAB and the racecourse was busy. A good day out. Back to van to hide from the rain that’s just starting.
