Good run on the beach Wednesday, followed by a short cycle into the hills. Met our friends for coffee later then had a meal out in the evening. See pictures below for Maureen and Darian’s food. (Click image for BIG) Darians fish still had its eyes so it could watch him eat it?
Thursday a bit overcast but still very warm. After lunch had a walk about with Ray and showed him some stunning grafitti on the sea front and in town.

Another good day out with friends in their hire car. Some great sights and lots of coffee. Maureen and I bumped into a good fell runner friend of hers from Todmorden Harriers, Mandy Goth, how fab to meet friends out here!
Had a good cycle to Moraira again for coffee and met our friends up there.
Had a trip up to Algar Waterfalls today, we have seen them on the television program Benidorm. We then went into Altea for a coffee. Gosh it is warm here – yesterday it was 27C.
Drive out with our friends Linda and Ray. Up to Javea then over to Denia to show them the location of Los Pinos Camping.
Wow the stunning things today were a very unusual church in Javea and the very stormy sea off Denia due, probably to the high winds we had last night. A good day out.
Enjoying ourselves here in Calpe. Maureen getting back into running and both of us doing lots of cycling and walking. On one good cycle to Moraira had a lovely coffee at a restaurant on the front. It was lovely and hot (very unusual in Spain) and it was served with a little glass of tia maria and cream on the side. After Maureen tasted hers she also stole Darian’s. Yummy! Managed to get back to Calpe without being arrested or falling of her bike.
Met up with Patsy and Paul on Tuesday and had a lovely lunch at el Escorial (translated to English means The Slag Heap) but the food was excellent. Maureen tried the Pig’s Cheek which was delicious.
Picture above “how to get a round peg into a square hole” i.e. pay for a small pitch and put a large motorhome on it to save money, then take the wire off above to allow your sat dish to work, then let your dog shit on the pitch next to you (us), then get your motor scooter out and cut the ropes holiday the shrubs up, then drive it down the footpath. Gilets!!!!
Picture below the lovely Maureen running on astro turf with some of her fans cycling past a sign with her age on ?
Oops! One of our mistakes. We intended stopping at Valencia but on arrival it was still closed so tried the campsite just down the road, but on driving round the site decided it wasn’t for us. Pulled up down the road and rang Calpe Mar to see if they could fit us in 2 days earlier than planned. Lucky for us they said yes. Maureen managed to start running again after her cold. Been out on the bikes several times, caught up with lots of friends on site and spent a lot of time with our friends from Harrogate.
Managed to get our friend Ray to the top of the Ifach today which he has wanted to do for years. Linda couldn’t make it as she was suffering with a cold.
Good drive down, after an early start, and on passing Tarragona the temperature dropped to 0 degrees. Arrived about 11.00 and as usual had difficulties getting a pitch in the area we wanted due to people leaving late. This is the view of the hills at the back of the campsite which we used to love to run up but unfortunately we are both on cold no. 2. Arghhh! the Barcelona bug.
So no running but we are managing plenty of walk-abouts. This site is becoming very British. It is very difficult to find people from other countries and despite there being lots of communal partying its difficult to find anybody with a good word to say about the British. How odd!!
The picture above shows how the seaweed, if not removed from the beaches, starts to build up. We have seen this previously up to a height of 6ft.
