Long journey from Rives du Lac plenty of stops and still arrived for an earlier train good drive down to Brighton.
27 – 28 – 29th April Brighton Campsite
Usual walk about here pictures Fast and Furious 8 / Beauty and the Beast Maureen running al over the place and Cycle if the wind drops.. Lots of Costa coffee so much better here than Spain. I think the rule is drink Starbucks when abroad. Enjoying different food Cornish pasty’s and Roast chicken. Planning our trip down to St Ives.
Lovely day for travelling, sunshine all the way. As usual with this campsite it closes for a 2 hour lunch break and we always arrive too late, so we drove to the supermarket, Leclerc, and it was closed even longer for lunch so in desperation visited a nearby boulangerie we knew about and treated ourselves to a lovely cake to die for. Problem solved. The lake for a change has some water in so we had a couple of walks down to it.
43 minutes only today along the back roads through the vineyards. Booked in and then walked into the town along the river. Not much to the town but looked around the cathedral.
Back to the campsite for lunch and a laze about in the sun. After we had got into bed this evening the weirdest music ever started up, a single toy drum accompanied by some one trying to get their foot out of a bear trap. How odd!! The good thing is it only lasted 3 hours and ended up with fireworks, or could have been the singer getting blown up.
Next day into town again to look around the Sunday market, other than that the town was dead, not a patch on Beaune.
Rough journey up driving into a head wind all the way. Got booked in, did some shopping, had lunch then went into town for a walk around.
19th April 2017 – Camping Cent Vignes, Beaune
Very cold start to the day, 5C. Changed pitches as the one we were on wasn’t suitable. Had a difficult job on the narrow road ways on this site as the bushes are just the height of the wing mirrors and caught both of them. Had a walk up into the vineyards then back for some lunch then into town to pick up some food for tea.
Cycle with Maureen running then a cycle up the side of the Rhone together for 1 1/2 hours.
16th April 2017 – Camping Tournon sur Rhone
Woke Easter Sunday morning to some gold chocolate Easter eggs on the floor outside our van how lovely. Pictured below next to our image for tournon on the table cloth with a picture of Willie Wonka appropriate for the chocolate factory here. We received the flower (muguet) on our arrival.
A lovely sunny day so going for a walk in the hills.
Busy motorway all the way from Avignon to Tournon. Arrived 11.00, got a good pitch overlooking the river. After a bit of lunch straight on to the chocolate factory!!!! A wander around the town, bit of sunbathing while catching up with some washing.
After tea had a walk around the funfair which is in town for the Easter weekend.
The picture above needs to be clicked for a larger image and then LOOK at the candidates?
Did our Avignon usual touristy things. 2 runs alongside the Rhone and a good cycle – 2.5 hours – to Roquemaire stopping for coffee on the way back at a small Tabac.
Drove up to Avignon. Booked into our hotel l’Atelier in Villeneuve lez Avignon. Parked up, on a very windy day, but sunny and warm.
Walked into Avignon, first job Crepe with Nutella for lunch. Coffee break under the Papes Palace, then into the Palace for bit of a touristy thing, then up to the gardens and then down to the Pont d’Avignon.
ABOVE. Into town to see the gardeners working on the market garden.
Caught the shuttle boat across to the Barthelasse, then back to the hotel. Showered then into the village for a first class meal at the Augerbine restaurant.
6th April 2017
Into Avignon this morning for a wander around the antique market, then into Les Halles (indoor market).
Drove down to Arles. Lunch in a small restaurant then had a look around both arenas. First the gladiator arena, then the theatre arena. Drove back to Villeneuve Loubet which took an hour longer than it should due to hold up on motorway.
7th April 2017
Easy day today as Brenda flies home this evening. Walked around the harbour and Antibes castle and a bit of shopping whilst we had the car. Took Brenda back to the airport.
8th April 2017
Getting ready to leave. Did all our washing this morning then our fourth trip to the airport to return the car. Had a lovely walk into Nice from the airport, coffee and sandwich for lunch, then train back to campsite.
