13-14 December 2016 Nimes / Vilanova Park Barcelona
13 December 2016 Nimes
Arrived at Nimes after a 2 Hr drive found out that like Oxford they have changed the Bus service to a 2 Bus journey into Nimes, as we have been here a few times we decided not to go into town and instead do some shopping and wash the van.
13 -14 December 2016 Vilanova Park Barcelona.
A long drive today 5 hours with 3 short breaks. Arrived at Vilanova park and were put on a pitch under trees so asked to be moved which they did next morning, into the restaurant for a menu del dia. Bumped into some friends from Keswick who owned a Guest house there on Southey Street we had heard they had bought a motorhome but had lost touch with them (small world). Up for a run Wednesday then down into Vilanova town for a coffee. Good to be back in warm temperature 18C.
Good drive down from Geraudot frosty start with most of the A6 covered in Fog -2C. 51/2 Hr drive arriving at Tournon 1500 campsite still good by the river but beware they do not take DOUBLE axles any more but there is a good Aire near the Bus Station here. Good walkabout in the town’s Christmas decorations are FAB.
Hopefully we will be running in the morning after a good nights rest.
9 December 2016 Tournon Sur Rhone
Caught up on a bit of sleep after 2 days of long driving then out for a run up the hills it was good….fresh. Visited one of our favorite chocolate factories Valrhone at Tain feel a bit sick after sampling and bought €40 of chocolate yum yum. Had a couple of walkabouts. The player of this piano requires a wet suit. ????
Arrived late afternoon at Broadhembury campsite had a wander about then washed the surface dirt of the bottom of the van. Washed all the bedding so as we are lovely n clean for our journey to Spain. Early start for the chunnel picked a train 1050 a bit cheaper than the early ones BUT when you get to self check-in early 0845! It puts you on an earlier train saving money.
Good drive down the A26 to Troyes a 130km speed limit its good been a toll road not much traffic at all 4Hr to Rives Du Lac. Walked down to the lake what’s left of it.
A lovely 3 days in Portsmouth with a run along the seafront at Stokes Bay. Cold weather -9 at times overnight. Van had Habitation check wow this is BIG money at Southdowns as I have said before. While it was been done we caught the train in from Hilsea and had a walk down to Southsea.
A short drive up to Brighton, walk into town and a trip up the i360 (known as the cock and ring down here).
Cinema to see the film about the aircraft landing on the Hudson river.. Walk in and back to Brighton then round Marina. Run up on the downs followed by a last Costa Coffee in town. Just a last shop in the morning and we are ready to go.
