Spending 10 days down at Torquay catching up on running and walking. Bike Mad on this weekend we love the Wall of Death you don’t get chance to see these often.
Pirate weekend at Brixham will run through from Paignton (Hope we make it with no Pirate attacks).
Had a drive to Kingsbridge for some new shorts then on to Plymouth.
Went to see Chicago the musical in Torquay. Been up to the chocolate factory at Cockington (yummy got chocolate fish n chips).
Contrary to belief at the end of the rainbow there is a Laika
A good stay here the entertainment has been an odd experience the new staff and group are certainly not up to running speed yet. The maintenance of the toilet block has dropped its standards along with warm showers. We still enjoy this campsite due to its location and will be back.
Arrived for a few nights here after having our Van Alarm fixed at Southdown Motorhomes and picking up van washing material.
Usual running on the coastline path they are welding on the Beacon above West bay probably for the Queens 90th Birthday. Lots of beach walking looking for Dinosaurs sea very calm for a change.
If you see one of these on a beach try building one (Good Luck)
Moved to Neufchatel en Bray – 3 hour drive. Camping St Claire well kept and pleasant owner. Topped up shopping and due to rain took the opportunity to get washing up to date.
10th April Neufchatel en Bray – Folkestone
Travel to Calais – 1.5 hour drive. Arrived early so able to get earlier train. Arrived Folkestone 10.45 and drove down to Brighton campsite. Bus into town after lunch and then a Cornish pasty for tea. Back to Marina to see a film – Superman v Batman.
11th April Brighton
A completely chill out day to recover from lots of travelling over the last few weeks.
12th April Brighton
Woke to a lovely sunny day so decided to run from the Seven Sisters Country Park to Eastbourne along the South Downs Way. Have a look at this link, Belle Tout Lighthouse a great B & B that we ran past, a must if you can afford it. A fabulous run – 2.5 hours. Coffee and cake in town and then bus back to campsite.
Drove up to here 1 Hour rain all the way but the weather has changed to sun slight wind and cold about 6 C. caught the campsite Navette to the main Parking area then walked the last 40 mins to Le Mont St Michel.
It was good to approach on foot but you can get another shuttle or a horse drawn carriage. What a fabulous place to finish our tour round Europe. Lunch on the rock expensive!
Shuttle to Parking area then walked 40 mins. back to site. If you pass here you should stop and visit.
3 hour drive up to here interesting especially the Bridge Nr St Nazaire and lots of road graffiti probably from an important cycle race other than that not so good here rain does not help. Been for a run down to the beach running its 15 mins away! Campsite just opened and it shows main entrance closed as they are working on the gate, mud all over from moving statics, toilets been pressure washed so could not use on arrival, Moan moan moan. The run was good despite the rain. You plug in your own breaker for the electric here? And have to leave credit card details if you wish to leave earlier than reception open 0900 to ensure its return. Internet Unlimited 1 day €9…1 week €22. Next to a main road so road noise.
Did not enjoy publishing today’s Blog but this campsite needs to buck its ideas up to catch up to their site in Biarritz.
Moved up this morning to a place Maureen came 28 years ago La Rochelle not sure what site to stop on two good 4 star sites. Bus to town good walk about refreshing after a disappointing Bordeaux.
Done our washing and shopping in a LARGE shopping centre across the road from the site. Small place so we move tomorrow up to near Nantes.
2 Hour drive up from Biarritz (lots of tolls we are in France!) €17.80 booked in. Bus down to the tram and tram into Bordeaux tickets €1.50 for an hour of travel. Had a wander about the mirror not working, the fountain not working and lots of the public toilets not working the one we found that worked is an improvement on 9 years ago its free now, the human statue first time we passed was texting the second he was smoking! The Juggler kept dropping his balls! (Saw a comment on the web that is perfect (Bordeaux must mean boredom in some ancient language. If I were offered a free trip to that town, I’d stay home and clean the fridge. )Had a look at the new bridge Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas walked along to the grand theater and down Rue Sainte Catherine. Lots of itinerants here. This is not a place that impresses me at all. No Wow factor here. Hope I can find something to photograph tomorrow!
4th April Bordeaux
Run this morning then into Bordeaux lunchtime for a walkabout. Held up for a while as a tram broke down when this happens it’s all stop until the breakdown truck arrives to tow the tram away…. they put the tow bar on the wrong side of the tram? So that had to be moved interesting.
Rain!!! this afternoon getting us ready for England? A good day in town.
